Would you like some tea?
Just a few days ago i released an cosy short adventure for OSR systems on my page on itch! Fairy Dust in Altella’s Tea House is a project i had on hold for quite a while, and i’m happy to finally put it out there!
Oh, and did i mention it is FREE?
Is there a story behind this?
In July of 2024, the TTRPG YouTuber and creator Indestructoboy hosted a Game Jam, in which we had to create a dungeon using the 5 Room Dungeon design ohilosophy.
I signed up and life happened. I submitted a version of my dungeon but it was half-baked, with some parts completely underdeveloped. Oh well, i thought, i might finish it someday.
It sat on my computer for months upon months. In the meantime, i started participating in smaller game jam projects, and eventually i decided to go back to work on that dreaded dungeon.
Over time, as i reread it and jotted down some ideas, some things changed and it grew a bit in scope. I’m fairly certain it doesn’t adhere to the 5 Room Dungeon framework, but for this adventure, i had another vision in mind,
Finally, on the 10th of April 2025, it was done, and shared it online.
But, a Tea House?
Oh, yes!
So, the idea for this dungeon came as i was reading the Perils & Pricesses rulebook. It’s whole vibe inspired me to do something cosy, low stakes, that is a bit silly, and with strong fairytale inspirations.
I wanted to create a small adventure that was easy to slot into ongoing campaigns, and that would be engaging, but also low stakes. The challenge in this adventure comes from discovering what is going on, deciding who you want to help and how, but the lives of your characters won’t probably be at risk.
A tea shop is a contained location, a place to socialize and relax, and it seemed like the perfect place for a small adventure with a pleasant vibe, with some gimmicks related to brewing potions tea.
So that’s one project down. You got anything prepared next?
I actually do! I am working on another one of my past projects that didn’t properly see the light of day back when i first started it, and news of it will come shortly.
I recenlty started using Bluesky, but i will continue to be on Mastodon, so if you are on either, feel free to follow me to keep up with what i’m doing.
I also have been streaming some of my game design work on Twitch.
And of course, i’ll announce any future projects here on Substack, so make sure to subscribe!
